2022 Holiday Shopping Guide

Fair ladies and noble knights,

The holidays are upon us yet again, so I thought it may be beneficial to write up a quick holiday shopping guide (some may say a “buyer’s guide”) to, ahem, guide you in your shopping. From stocking stuffers to full boxed sets, if you have a friend or loved one who loves the Renaissance fair, LARPing, or generally just dressing like a cool fantasy character, it’s my hope that this guide can help you find the perfect gift. Without further adieu (or whatever), let’s get started!

Stocking Stuffers

I don’t know about anybody else, but stocking stuffers are usually the last thing I remember to buy. I think it’s fitting to start this list off with them so perhaps I won’t forget. I sell a number of small items that could be stuffed into ye olde stockings, including fan favorites like my skirt hikes and new items like my mini trinket/dice trays. Most of these items are also in the $10-$25 range, as well. I recently added some everyday items, like leather earrings, keychains, and more, along with gift cards, so even if you’re not sure what to get, there are plenty of options!

Gifts under $25

While several of my stocking stuffers could also fit in this category, I limited this to 3 items that are perhaps a big large for a stocking yet still in the $25 or less category. Basically this category is for everything else inexpensive that may not be the best candidate for going in a stocking. (This is far from being an exhaustive list of my under $25 items, though.)

Gifts under $50

So. Many. Pouches. If your budget is closer to $50 than $25, there are many more options to consider, from my wand holsters and leatherbound journals to just like a ton of pouches. Most of the pouches in this category are going to be smaller pouches, too. I have many more available than what’s shown here, so make sure to check out all of my Pouches & Belt Bags!

Kits & Sets

I have a number of bag sets available, each with different designs and different pieces in each kit. My Starry Night set is just two beautiful pouches made of the same saffiano cross hatch leather that’s made ___ famous while my Monster Hide set includes two pouches and two different armor pieces perfect for kicking off a new costume. I’m also working on adding a mystery box set and a Build Your Own Costume set, though those may not make it out before Christmas. We shall see!

Best Sellers

I saved the best for last — my best sellers! These are the items I honestly never make enough of prior to an event, even when I feel like surely I’ve made enough this time.

So now that we’ve broken these down into categories based on price and type of gift, let’s talk a little more about which ones I use the most and think would make the best gifts.

I love the costuming aspect of going to the Renaissance fair. It’s been a very long time since I’ve gone and not dressed up. My costume staple elements depend on what I’m wearing. If I’m going as my usual Norse-inspired lady selling her wares (typically what I wear when I’m, y’know, selling as a vendor), then I stick with a belt, a large pouch, a small pouch, and a mug frog, though I’ve recently upgraded to a drinking horn instead. If the weather is cold, I add on a pair of plain vambraces and some fur to help keep myself warm. If I’m just going to a fair as a visitor, I’ll usually don one of my many corsets and a couple full length skirts, in which case I add on some skirt hikes in addition to the other stuff I typically wear. Depending on the costume, I’ll add on a couple extra elements, like a potion bottle or a wand set, and bring some business cards just in case.

Of everything on this list, I think the ones that would make the best gifts are the belt pouches or the potions bottles. They’re super versatile and work great for any number of costumes. Not only that, but they’re also functional. I don’t recommend drinking out of the potions bottles, but some folks want to, so as long as you make sure to take care of the bottle and cork appropriately, it should be fine.
